INTRODUCING… THEO
Practice Mascot

Hello there, I am the practice pup, Theo.

I love all things from playing and walking outside, eating anything I can get my paws on (with mom’s permission of course), cuddling, and of course, barking. You will see me pop up in sessions from time to time and sometimes I even come into the office for pets, licks, and treats!

“Live for the journey, not the destination.”

After recovering and healing from my own eating disorder, I realized that helping individuals heal from their relationship with food and body was where my passion lied.  Having a safe place to go to heal from your disordered relationship with food is the foundation of my work.  Affordable and accessible care is what the practice is rooted in, everyone deserves a chance to reach full recovery and peace within themselves.

In my work with clients, it is important for me to meet you where you’re at, as well as guide you to a place of true happiness and balance in your life.  Everyone’s journey towards recovery looks different, which is why care is individualized for each client.  In our work together, we will explore how your relationship with food and body impacts your day to day life and how we can create a neutral or positive environment in which you are thriving.

“Be where you are at, not where you think you should be”

We are often so focused on the outcome of our work that we have trouble being present in the moment. I meet my clients where they are at in their journey, allowing for a greater focus on the now.  Emphasizing progress and not perfection, I encourage my clients to let go of the idea that anything in life, especially regarding food, can ever be truly perfect.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher, I bring concepts of yoga into my which allows for cultivating mindfulness, interoceptive awareness, and invites clients to slow down, as we are always so caught up in the next thing. I offer a holistic, judgment free approach to food, body, and movement.

Mia’s Specialties: I specialize in treating all types of eating disorders, as well as chronic dieters that have a desire to re-establish regular eating patterns. I specifically work with a variety of co-occurring mental health diagnoses, such as  Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. I take a weight-neutral approach through disease and nutrition management.

Mia as a human: When I am not at work, you can find me practicing or teaching yoga. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, cooking different recipes, or scouting out the nearest farmer’s market. I am always on a mission to find the best matcha latte in NYC!

Alexa Nichols, MS, RD, CDN

Lead Associate Dietitian

“You are worth the fight”

Hi, I’m Alexa Nichols! Growing up, I always envisioned myself becoming a journalist. In my late teenage years I began to meet with a dietitian of my own to help heal my unhealthy relationship with food. It was then that I was introduced to the world of dietetics and immediately fell in love with this approach to gentle nutrition. I was shown the nourishing benefits of food for the body as well as the mind and soul. As a practitioner, I take an individualistic approach and aim to move through the healing process at a pace that is comfortable for the client. I always encourage clients to celebrate the small wins and remind them that the work they are doing in recovery is not easy but worth it! We will work together on challenging food rules, exposures to fear foods, and building sustainable eating habits. It is my mission to support those who feel they are falling out of love with themselves, their body, and the role that food plays in their life.

Alexa’s specialties: Working with young adults, individuals with active eating disorders, transitioning from higher levels of care, history of chronic dieting, and those looking to repair their relationship with food and forming sustainable eating and lifestyle habits.

Alexa as a human: I am originally from Cherry Hill, NJ, a town right outside of the Philadelphia area. I currently live in Brooklyn, NY but still remain a huge Philly sports fan. In my free time I love taking yoga classes and trying new coffee shops around the city. I also consider myself both an avid reader and a reality TV fanatic! On the weekends you can find me walking around Williamsburg and sipping on a frothy cappuccino!

Alexa is able to see clients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

“Little by little, a little becomes a lot.”

Oftentimes, taking things day-by-day or even moment-by-moment is one of the best things an individual can do, especially when the healing work feels overwhelming. Since progress looks and feels different for everyone, and it isn’t usually linear, I find it so important to remind my clients to be proud of how far they’ve come.

Together, we will explore your relationship with food, movement, and your body, as well as challenge any unhelpful or limiting food beliefs. We will also create goals that are unique and individual to your needs, so that you are able to find peace and joy in eating. Encouraging my clients to give themselves grace and self-compassion throughout this process, especially as we navigate struggles and difficult moments, is also extremely important. It is with non-judgement, curiosity, and compassion that I work to cultivate a space for clients that feels safe and affirming. I will always provide unwavering support, and help you to reconnect and find your inner trust within your body.

Jenny’s Specialities: Using a weight-neutral and HAES-aligned approach, I have experience working with eating disorders, intuitive eating, ARFID, PCOS, the LGBTQ+ population, and adolescents and adults. I also work with individuals that are hoping to explore and heal their relationship with food, body, or movement.

Jenny as a human: When I’m not working, my favorite place to be is on the water (I live upstate in theThousand Islands!), or spending time with my family and friends. I also love getting creative in the kitchen, hosting game nights, and spending quality time hiking with my dog in the Adirondacks!

Jenny is able to see clients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

“Progress, not perfection”

This quote has been pinned on my laptop for years now. This served as a reminder for me along my own mental health journey that progress is not linear. In my work with clients, above all else I promote being patient and kind with yourself. I do my best to make sure that everyone feels heard and understood, empowering clients to improve their relationships with food, movement and body.

My love for nutrition and food started at an early age, as my beloved grandmother, Mimi, taught me how to cook our family recipes. Having been a dietitian herself, she fostered my love for helping people using food. After studying nutrition and working in a hospital, I quickly realized that my passion was in a weight neutral and individualized approach.

Madi’s specialties: I specialize in taking a weight-neutral, HAES-aligned approach that is compassionate, non-judgemental and understanding. I meet every client where they are in an effort to work together to create an approach that is the best fit for each individual. I work with both adolescents and adults, specializing in eating disorders, intuitive eating, women’s health/PCOS, diabetes and other comorbidities.

Madi as a human: I am originally from Brookeville, Maryland – about halfway between Washington, DC and Baltimore. I have also lived in Pennsylvania and Virginia for school and I now live in Hoboken, NJ. In my free time I am typically spending time with friends and family, or working on a craft of some sort! I love knitting, painting, needlepoint and making jewelry. I love to do yoga and go for long walks along the Hoboken waterfront.

Madi is able to see clients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

“Self-care is never selfish.”

Hi, I’m Christina! After healing from my own disordered relationship with food, I realized I wanted to become a dietitian to help others recover from their own eating disorders. Self-care comes in many forms, one of them being nourishment. Adequately nourishing our bodies with nutritious and delicious food is a form of self-care.

In Christina’s Work with Clients: I approach client-centered nutrition care through a weight-inclusive lens and promote food flexibility. I am a firm believer in the fact that food is so much more than just nutrition. In any recovery journey, whether from an eating disorder or chronic dieting, I will help you identify your food values and what food means to you. With that, we can create realistic and achievable goals to promote a healthful relationship with food and body.

Christina’s Specialties: Working with adolescents and adults with all diagnosed eating disorders, transitions to and from higher levels of care, chronic dieters, intuitive eating, and anyone who is looking to heal their relationship with food and body.

Christina as a Human: I was born and raised on Long Island. My favorite hobby is hiking in the mountains especially during the fall season! My favorite hikes so far have been in Maine and Arizona. I love to travel, listen to new music, practice yoga, and enjoy the outdoors in any way I can. On the weekends you will likely find me enjoying a cup of coffee, exploring LI, and spending time with friends and family.

Christina is able to see clients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

“Authenticity is everything”

I have a background in cooking professionally and teaching cooking, which allows me to bring the knowledge of a chef to the role of a dietitian to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the complexity of food.

I advocate for an anti-oppressive lens and embrace intersectionality when listening to the lived experiences of others. I am dedicated and committed to supporting any individual, regardless of their background or the identities they carry.

Ethan’s Specialties: I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating and co-occurring medical conditions that result from these illnesses. My approach to nutritional counseling is centered around a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size (HAES™) lens, which encompasses a holistic view of health that goes beyond the number on the scale. I believe in fostering an environment where individuals can embrace self-acceptance and compassion for their bodies. By shifting the focus away from weight and placing emphasis on trauma-informed, client-centered care, I aim to empower individuals to develop a nurturing relationship with food and their bodies.

Ethan as a Human: I am a lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity that keeps me on an everlasting journey. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and going on adventures. I am an avid live music attendee and movie watcher. I love being outdoors and relish anytime I can be in water. “Believe you can and you’re halfway there”

Sometimes the hardest part of overcoming a challenge is the confidence we have in ourselves. Belief and positive self-talk are impactful tools for achieving goals and working through obstacles. While this isn’t always easy, or natural, having a strong support team to cheer you on can make believing in yourself a bit easier.

I provide a supportive, empowering, and non-judgemental space for my clients to feel safe to work through their challenges. I use a personalized, science-based approach and tailor nutrition plans to my clients’ needs and preferences– all through a non-diet, weight-neutral lens. Together, we’ll dive deeper into your relationship to food and body image, working towards intuitive eating and balanced nutrition.

Rose’s Specialties: I have experience working with young adults and adults with disordered eating, diagnosed eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, ARFID, and binge eating disorder), and gastrointestinal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease.

Rose as a Human: I grew up in Los Angeles and moved to New York to pursue my undergraduate degree at NYU. When I’m not working with clients you can find me trying a new restaurant in NYC, taking a barre or yoga class, or walking my dog, Blue, in Central Park.

Rose is able to see clients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Virginia.
