Eating Disorder Support Group NYC

When you’re recovering from an eating disorder — meal and snack times can feel both isolating and triggering. And the prospect of facing them alone? It seems almost impossible.

At Nourishing NY, we offer ongoing virtual meal support groups to clients looking for safe and non-judgmental eating environments as they journey toward recovery.

Eating Disorder Groups NYC

Virtual meal support groups are safe spaces for you to gain support around your meal and snack times. This group approach is designed to provide you with both expert counseling and empathetic community support to help you walk through meal times if:

  • You experience anxiety, panic or other challenging emotions when thinking about eating certain meals or certain foods.

  • You find yourself struggling with individual food rules and restrictions that you know you want to break.

  • You’re looking to connect with other people who understand the distress mealtimes can often cause — and you do not currently have anyone in your life who can relate.

Groups Meal Support

Nourishing NY’s meal support groups provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for empathetic support around meal times.

Meal support groups are:

  • Conducted via Zoom with a Nourishing NY dietitian as facilitator

  • 45-minutes (30-minutes to eat, 15-minutes of processing time)

  • Open forum — designed to give all participants a space to process.

Our meal support groups are offered virtually and are open to clients nationwide. These sessions are self-pay only, with upfront and weekly payment options available. HSA and FSA cards can be used.

“Courtney has helped me out tremendously in overcoming body dysmorphia and stress-eating. With her guidance, I have transitioned from being too calorie-focused to go to restaurants with friends/family, towards eating a more relaxed diet of mostly whole foods. I can now recognize my cycles of negative self-talk for what they are, and instead of blindly following them, I have learned coping skills to stay grounded. While the main focus of our discussions were related to diet and exercise, I believe Courtney’s guidance has also benefited me in unrelated areas of my life.”

“From my first intro phone call with Mia, I immediately felt understood and hopeful for the first time in my life. I didn’t feel like I was being judged or looked down upon for these behaviors I saw as failures; instead, I felt comfortable and safe talking about my struggles. Mia helped come up with a plan that worked best for me. Not only coming up with nutritious meals and snacks that I enjoyed but also providing me with strategies and coping mechanisms to deal with my fear around foods. I am so happy to say that I feel like I have just started a new chapter in my life that doesn’t revolve around food, but actually living my life. I am able to go to social events and hang out with friends without fearing what food is going to be there or what my body is going to look like.”
